Here I am writing a promise to myself: to come back, when I have more time to unfold inside these walls.

Its in the quiet stillness
The whispers of the wind
The beating rhythm of the heart
when we can hear our inner knowing
A moment in time when all is calm
an exhale, a clearing through the fog
for its in moments like this that life slows
if only for a brief second
It all makes sense
The path is lit with truth
And from there
The journey back home begins
And will always begin again

There’s a tradition at The Poet’s Cabin that if you stay here, you have to leave something of yourself behind. A few words. Song lyrics. Names of those on your mind. Poetry. A moment in time. Anything. Typewrite or handwrite the words on a scrap of paper and leave it for the next person to find, or not. Folded into the cracks of the wooden beams. Hidden behind pictures. In the pages of books. Under the spices in the cabinet. Stashed in a coffee cup.

These are a few of the pieces I’m leaving behind. If you stay here, maybe you’ll find one or two of them. I typed them on the old Royal typewriter that lives on the writing desk in the main room.
